Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

The New Years break is nearly upon us (New Years is big here, Christmas not so, everyone still works on that day). Although they do enjoy Kurisumasu, as I’ve mentioned before with
pizza delivery guys etc. dressing up as Santa, etc.

We’re having our Christmas in Bali this year for our honeymoon but back in time to watch the 8 hour music extravaganza on New Years Eve and the trip to the shrine at midnight.

Gonna miss out on the traditional KFC Christmas dinner and cake. Have to try and find the Indonesian equivalent.

Off to see a Merseybeat band from Tokyo tonight, The Neatbeats! Should be interesting. I picked up a couple of their cds from a market a few months ago and nearly dropped my bacon sandwich when I saw they were playing in Osaka! Gonna try and fashion a quiff and get my drainpipes on. Or I might just wear my Beatles t-shirt and be done with it.

Forgot to mention, for Aki’s birthday a few weeks ago we went to our favourite Kobe steak restaurant for lunch, and this time had the more expensive genuine Kobe steak. This cow was massaged every day and was given a bottle of beer just before she was sent off to become our steak.

Just last week, I had a birthday. In fact I kinda had 2. Me missus was working on the actual day, so I hung out with some friends then, and the next day, had a 2nd birthday with my lady.

First day was a 3hour karaoke extravaganza. In Japan they have this thing called “nomihodai“, which means “drink as much as you want” for a couple of hours for about a tenner. This sounded like a top idea, however, the Japanese don’t seem to understand about drinking during the day, so it’s soft drinks until 7pm! (We started after my work, about 3.30).

So we chipped off, bought a bottle of sake and smuggled it in. Glad I was too drunk to hear myself sing, as got a feeling it was pretty bad.

Kobe can be a strange place.
It was my day off on Friday (St Patricks Day), so we decided to go to Kobe to have some Kobe steak (pricey, but it was White Day this week, and our 18month anniversary the week after, so we thought what the hell).

On the way, we spotted a girl dressed up a bit like little bo peep, so we followed her in the station and she met some friends…being a gaijin, I pretended to be a tourist and got them to pose for a picture…

About 30 seconds after that, a man wearing a purple suit walked past us, and I noticed he was carrying something under his arm…turned out to be a large chicken (or perhaps cockerel is the better term).
Too shocked to take a photo, I thought the opportunity had gone, until I saw him later, parading his cock for all to see.
