Expoland, Osaka
Another beautiful day, so we headed off to a local Osakan theme park, Expoland. Osaka held the Expo about 30 years ago, and they’ve kept an amusement park there ever since. Also it has the worlds longest monorail to take you there (it starts at Osaka airport).
Unfortunately it was still Golden Week, so it was absolutely rammed with children and families. We couldn`t go on any of the 5 rollercoasters (including one where you stand up!), and only went on some odd jungle ride, a unicyle ride (which I wanted to go on as it looked like something out of Star Wars – but turned out to be build for Japanese legs and not western, so really hurt – my knees were up by my chin).
We also went on a big wheel which was great, and gave us a beautiful view of the area and the sunset.
We`re gonna go back some time when it`s not Golden Week, and do all the rides.
UPDATED: 31/11/09 – Tragically there was an accident at the Expoland last year on one of the Rollercoasters and a lady died. It’s now closed down.
