Martin Gilks, Ex-Wonder Stuff Drummer RIP

I was very saddened to hear yesterday that Martin Gilks, the drummer from The Wonder Stuff was tragically killed in a motorbike accident aged only 41.

His distinctive drumming style helped create The Wonder Stuff sound and made some memorable pop songs, from the opening to Welcome to the Cheap Seats, to Don’t Let Me Down Gently, Size of a Cow, Ten Trenches Deep and many, many more.

I saw the Stuffies about 10 times and certainly ranked up in my top 5 live bands ever, their gigs were always great fun and very energetic.

Listening to them as I write this, brings back some very happy memories.

A tragic loss, go steal your Piece of Sky.
